Drugs, Bugs and Our Precarious Existence

Clare Chandler, Laura Piddock, Ed Whiting. Angela Saini hosts.

Predicted to kill 10million a year by 2050, the World Health Organisation has warned superbugs are the greatest threat to human health. Despite claimed breakthroughs, have we mistakenly assumed that antibiotic drugs can keep up with bacterial evolution? Do we urgently need international action and investment? Or is it already too late for cures and time to come to terms with our precarious existence?

Medical anthropologist Clare Chandler, microbiologist Laura Piddock and Director of Policy at the Wellcome Trust Ed Whiting examine the fragility of our human species.
